• There were also many patrol outings that were not even listed here.
• We've also been blessed with a fantastic group of parents to volunteer on the parent committee.
• I've shared all of this to say we are an energetic Troop and we are thankful for all of the boys in it.
• So now is the time to re-charter your son in this one-of-a-kind experience - making life memories for sure

A Parent's Review of the Winterplace Ski
Adventure:
The CNCC annual ski trips to Winterplace in
WV: The trips are scheduled for Jan 22 and
Feb 26, both are Sundays. We went as a
family last year and had a GREAT time. I
grew up skiing every weekend in VT, but I
hadn't skied in 20 years. The kids had never
skied before, but were eager to give it a try.
Despite the cold and windy morning, they
had a blast and can't wait to go again. The
event is $49/ person which includes a
lesson, lift ticket, meal voucher for a horrible
meal and full equipment rental. Snow
Tubing is available too. All in all, it's a
fantastic deal. The ski's are a lot shorter than
they were 20 years ago, but I fell right back
into the groove once I got going! The slopes
of WV were perfect for starting the kids off as
they (the slopes) are not intimidating at all.
Coincidentally, Jan 23rd is a teacher work
day (not sure about UA, though) - even
better... Last year we drove up Saturday
afternoon and spent the night close to
Winterplace so that we could start first thing.
I hear the lines - for picking up tickets to
rental equip to the lifts and lessons - can get
long, so I would recommend being there
before 8:00a.m. when it opens. We left
mid-afternoon (while the kids were still
enjoying it (stop while you are ahead!)) and
drove home. The drive was no more than 4
hours. Being that there is no school the next
day, and we know the kids like skiing, I would
consider spending two nights and go night
skiing, too!
Anyway, I just wanted to let all of you know
about this opportunity. We'll be going back!
